DetTX provides independant consultancy services to the defense industry in the field of explosive compounds, their synthesis and processing.

High Explosive Formulations
© DetTX (2023)

Explosives in this database are explosive compositions, that is to say that can be used directly in practical applications (many explosives compounds are too sensitive to use in their pure form these can be found on the Explosives page). These compositions are mixtures made from explosives, binders, plasticizers, oxidizers and fuels. Naming conventions can be found here??????

Using this table

Name : You can search for specific compounds using the search box below the name.

Formula :You can filter by type of explosive, for example, using the keyword Melt will bring explosive used in melt pour operation to the top of the list.

Pseudo Formula : This is the chemical formula for the complete composition based on a molecular weight of 100. Hovering over the formula shows the constituents of the compound and their proportion (when known) It also shows the higher precision values for the pseudo formula. Typing a term in the search box will filter on this term, for example , if you want to find all compositions that use BDNPA/F type it in this box.

Principle explosive : RDX, HMX, TATB, DNAN, PETN, TNT, CL-20 and NTO are some of the most common pure explosive compounds found in explosive compositions today. Click on the arrow to sort by constituent or alternatively you can use mathematical operators to filter a certain range e.g. > 20% AND < 80% TNT would show you many melt-pour TNT based explosives

Al : Filtering on Aluminium will find the enhanced blast or underwater explosives.

ρ [g/cm3] : I have used the TMD (Theoretical Maximum Density) when quoted as such in the literature,
